Debian 9 bugs

Hello,

Because of the older kernel version on VPS. There are  a lot of messages error and bugs (eg openvpn init script is broken) related to systemd

Something like:
session-12687140.scope: Failed to set invocation ID on control group /user.slice/user-0.slice/session-1
2687140.scope, ignoring: Operation not permitted

When do you upgrade your old kernel ?
2.6.32-042stab128.2 #1 SMP Thu Mar 22 10:58:36 MSK 2018 x86_64 GNU/Linux ouch !

Thanks

    Hi,

we are currently working on OpenVZ 7 introduction for newly ordered VPS services and also with the migration of servers with OpenVZ 6 to the newer version. In our plans, both of these tasks will hopefully be completed by the end of 2018.

However, you can use our KVM Linux services, that comes with 3.x+ kernel version. KVM servers allows manual kernel configuration to your wanted version:

Sorry for the lag (no notification), ok thank you because 2.6.32-042stab128.2 is more prehistoric than old  :) In December we will celebrate the 10th anniversary of this kernel !

It's gonna be a great party at OpenVZ 6 community ;)
  • Just for information, I don't known openvz so I'm interested by this subject
The project seems really slow now (dead ?) https://wiki.openvz.org/Releases and the latest kernel version in source code is not better https://github.com/OpenVZ/vzkernel, no change after three years ...

Maybe I'm wrong but perhaps you should think about an alternative ?

OpenVZ project is alive and developed. However, the most common version OpenVZ 6 is about to reach it's end of life. Therefore we will be migrating these server tos OpenVZ 7 which will offer newer kernel and some more options.

In general, OpenVZ 6 is still used widely, because it's stable and reliable, although it has it's limitations due to old kernel.

In short, we know the situation and currently in process of transition to a newer OpenVZ 7. Also, we provide KVM VPS.
  • ok thank you
